To God be the Glory DOMA Upheld

Nebraska Deputy Attorney General Matt McNair notified our office earlier today that the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled unanimously (3-0) to uphold Nebraska's Defense of Marriage Amendment. The ruling stated that both sentences of the amendment are constitutional. The actual amendment states:

"Only marriage between a man and a woman shall be valid or recognized in Nebraska. The uniting of two persons of the same sex in a civil union, or domestic partnership, or other same-sex relationship shall not be valid or recognized in Nebraska"

This is a day to humbly celebrate and give thanks to the Lord for answering our prayers!

The ruling is a strong measure validating traditional marriage and will have national impact. It also provided judicial prudence so states will not have to support "look-a-like" marriages.

Attorney General Jon Bruning and Deputy Attorney General Matt McNair who argued the DOMA case have asked that we communicate their gratitude, "We want to express our thanks to the Nebraska Family Council for assisting us and for all the prayer support provided through the Intercessory Prayer Network. It has made the difference and this is a day of thanksgiving"
