Purpose of the Intercessory Prayer Network

Nebraska Family Council established a statewide Intercessory Prayer Network in the spring of 2002. The idea was birthed out of response to Nebraska's 97th Legislative Session. During that session many bills were introduced which impacted families. Christian Senators began requesting prayer support as they presented bills in the Unicameral. In response, the Intercessory Prayer Network was established.

The purpose of the Intercessory Prayer Network is to:

  • Alert intercessors to local, state and national issues. To inform you through periodic update about legislative bills and issues affecting Nebraskans. Nebraska Senators submit prayer requests on occasion which we then forward to you.

  • Intercede for men and women who serve in leadership roles.

  • Building strategic partnerships and networking vital information to mobilize Christians to pray effectively.

  • Coordinate the monthly State Capitol Prayer Walk held on the third Saturday of each month from 10:00-11:15 a.m.

  • Provide instructional resources on prayer and host an annual Prayer Conference.

Our vision is to mobilize Christians to become God's agents of transformation in their local communities. Prevailing prayer is an essential foundation to impact our world.

As you enter the main entrance of Nebraska's State Capitol, engraved in the stone is a quote by H.B. Alexander, "The salvation of the state is watchfulness in the citizen". Isaiah made a similar declaration when he exhorted the nation to post watchmen on the walls of Jerusalem. How will the peace and safety of our cities, state and nation be established? By "watchmen" stationed on the walls (Isaiah 62:6). Prayer includes watchfulness. Jesus instructed his disciples to watch and pray.

Consider joining the team of over 1,000 "pray-ers" from across Nebraska representing over 175 communities who have committed to pray. God loves to respond to the cry of our hearts!

In prayer with you,

Karen Bowling for the NFC Team
